Little Girl With Autism Sells Art To Celebrities, Proving That “Different Is Brilliant”

Iris Grace is a six-year-old with autism who’s telling the world that different is awesome through her incredible paintings and ability to see the world in a whole new way.

Iris’ mom, Arabella, started a blog to showcase her daughter’s talent and share her experience of raising a child with autism.

Now Iris (helped by faithful therapy cat, Thula) is something of a celebrity, having sold her art to stars like Angelina Jolie.

“I love that we don’t have to conform; we can just go with the flow and follow Iris and she is happy,” Arabella said.

“Her exceptional focus and attention to detail have helped her create incredibly beautiful paintings. She found her voice through painting.”

“For the first time our family took a trip abroad. A remarkable achievement for a little girl who was once isolated, unable to speak or be around others.”

Thula went too, obviously.

Thanks to painting, “talking, reading and enjoying her home education is a different story,” according to Arabella.

Now Arabella has written a book to tell Iris’ story and raise awareness of autism, to show people “that there can be a future — a bright one.”

“Autism has opened up my perceptions of how you can teach a child. It doesn’t have to be in a classroom — it can be wherever the child is most comfortable, using their interests to inspire them.”

“[Iris] is more responsive, calm and easy when I set up ‘playrooms’ within the garden or sometimes out in the countryside.”

“The techniques that work for Iris may not work with every child…”

“…but I do believe there is always a key: following the lead of your child.”
