Taylor Smith, we, wrote a letter. A letter that is helping her family members deal with the grief of losing her. Taylor was so excited about what the future had in store that she decided to write a letter to her future self, so that she would know if the hopes, dreams and ideas she had as a kid came true. When she wrote the letter, she put it in an envelope and marked it “confidential” and that it should be opened in 2023.
When Taylor died of pneumonia, her parents found the letter. As part of the grieving process, Taylor’s parents posted it on social media. Taylor’s father, Tim Smith, said that the family posted the letter to social media because Taylor was a great kid. “I just want people to know just what an awesome, awesome person she was,” he said.
Since posting the letter to social media, people have been moved by Taylor’s optimism and story, “I can’t physically resurrect her, I can’t bring her back, but I’m so grateful people have been inspired by her story,” Taylor’s mom said.
