Instead Of Throwing Away Her Phone Packaging, She Turned It Into Something Every Girl Needs

It’s not uncommon to see hordes of people lining up when the latest-and-greatest smartphone comes out. Apple, in particular, is famous for attracting crowds of customers lining up days ahead of a new product launch. It’s become a bit of a cultural phenomenon, but it isn’t too hard to rationalize it when you consider how integral smartphones are to our lives these days.

Whenever you get a new smartphone, it’s hard not to note the amount of effort that goes into its packaging. Unwrapping and opening a new device is very much a part of the first impressions of the device, but once open, the box is really of little use. Some of us keep them around for a while, but they eventually find their way into the recycling bin.

Before you throw away the box that your smartphone came in, consider that with a bit of creativity, it may still be of some use. Jennifer Priest has come up with a clever way to turn these useless boxes into a beautiful jewelry box that is nothing short of stunning. After seeing how it turns out, you’ll be digging through your drawers to find those old packagings.

Can you imagine that this used to be a box for a cell phone? It looks like something you would have to pay a lot of money for in stores.

To begin, remove all of the contents from the box. Recycle any inserts or manuals that you no longer need, and store any unused accessories and cables where you can easily find them should the need ever arise. Then, begin painting the inside of the box. Jennifer used spray paint to get an even coating of purple paint, but choose whatever color and painting method that is most appealing to you.

Once the paint on the inside is completely dry, begin painting the outside. You can go with the same color that you used previously, or choose a different one for the exterior.

While the exterior is drying, gather some ribbon, scissors, hot glue, and several sheets of felt.

Take a long strip of ribbon and secure it to the bottom of the inside of the box using hot glue. Make sure that the middle of the ribbon is positioned at the left edge of the box.

Place the top part of the box and place it next to the bottom. Continue gluing along the inside of the top box continuing from the middle edge. The two halves should be secured together by the ribbon when you are done.

Next, cut the sheets of felt to the same width of the inside of the bottom half of the box.

Then, roll them up. You can make the rolls any desired thickness, but you should make enough to cover the entire length of the box.

Secure the end of each roll with a bit of hot glue.

After the glue has cooled, attach the rolls with the seam facing down to the inside of the box.

All that’s left is to fill it with your favorite jewelry.

When the box is not in use, you can elegantly tie it shut with the ribbon.
