Anyone who’s raised chickens on their property knows how rewarding it can be. But like many things worth doing, it takes time and money, things that not everyone has in abundance.
One mother had dreamed of raising chickens for years, but didn’t have the extra cash to spend on the coop construction. She was just about ready to give up when she had to the most brilliant idea.
One woman had always wanted to raise chickens on her property, but didn’t have the money to spend on building a coop.
But one day, she was hanging up laundry outside when she noticed her kids’ old Playskool house collecting leaves and moss in the corner of her yard.
The kids had stopped playing with it years ago, so she dragged it out into the driveway and started cleaning it off.
First, she tested the walls to see if screws and staples would hold. Success!
Next, she got a roll of hardware cloth and covered the windows and doors.
Finally, her husband built this nest box, which could be opened from the outside.
What a quirky and creative addition to their homestead! I just hope the chickens can appreciate how awesome their new home is. They’re pretty smart, though, so they should be able to figure it out.
