Check out everything you can do with simple rubbing alcohol:

Kill Bed Bugs

These are totally nasty, and a total pain to get rid of. Rubbing alcohol to the rescue! These guys can be exterminated by putting rubbing alcohol into a spray bottle and dousing your mattress, box spring and headboard with a liberal amount to each area. This kills the nasty bugs on contact, but you will have to do it multiple times as the alcohol will dry and won’t be effective, and you want to make sure you kill off all the eggs. Don’t go back to sleeping on the bed until the alcohol has fully dried.

DIY Ice Cold Gel Pack

It’s not going to turn into a solid in the freezer since it does not get cold enough. Thus you can create gel packs which you can mold and then they will wrap easily around a body part like an arm or ankle. You mix one cup of rubbing alcohol and two cups of water in a Ziploc bag in order to make this gel pack. Remove the air from the bag and about an hour later it should be ready!

Nail Polish Remover

Acetone is the harsh chemical most removers contain. This has issues with neurotoxicity and can be an irritant for skin, eyes and lungs. Instead, use rubbing alcohol. While it will take a few extra rounds for removal, it won’t present the chemical concern.

Zap Head Lice

No need for high priced special lice shampoos. With a spray bottle and rubbing alcohol, along with a few drops of lavender essential oil, you have yourself an excellent formula for getting rid of head lice. You’ll actually see the lice fall out dead on contact after you apply and comb out your hair. Stick your combs in rubbing alcohol for an hour to ensure all the lice remain dead.

No More Razor Bumps

Post shaving your skin can develop those irritating razor bumps, killing your attempt at achieving smooth skin. Dab some rubbing alcohol on your legs in order to relieve some of this irritation and inflammation from occurring.

Ear Wax Remover

Very nasty what can build up in your ears. Forget about using Q-tips to get it out as that just pushes it further in, causing ear drum damage as well. Instead, mix equal amounts of rubbing alcohol and white vinegar in a bowl and dip a cotton ball in it. Then squeeze a few drops into your ear and the wax starts to naturally dissolve.

Acne Skin Treatment

The most common treatment is benzoyl peroxide. Rubbing alcohol is not far behind though! Only dab enough as you need on a particular spot as long term use could cause irritation.

Eliminate Cold Sores

Dry the blisters so they disappear off of your lips by using 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, applying to the cold sore when it first will appear. Dab alcohol on it several times a day and it should disappear.

Deodorant In A Pinch

So you forget to throw on some deodorant this morning. Hit the first aid kit at work and dab on some rubbing alcohol! It will kill the bacteria which is odor-causing. Not an everyday use as it could cause irritation long term, but definitely a doable short term solution.

Here’s how to use rubbing alcohol as an alternative to buying those expensive hand sanitizers:

Naturally most people think of rubbing alcohol as only a first aid item. These uses open up the floodgates for using rubbing alcohol as an alternative to relieve many ailments, rather than resorting to high cost medicines.
